Alive.. I’m alive!

February 23rd, 2009

To all those wondering if, in fact, I’m still alive.. the answer is yes. I’ve been nearly silent on the Internets for a while now. My reasons are varied.. life has kept me away for a while and my physical connection to the internet (save my phone) have been down for almost a week. I can now saw that I CAN survivie without the internet for more than four days. I now have proof!
That being said.. for those playing at home.. lot’s of pics to be posted to Flickr and or Picassa soon… very behind in this department. New travel pics as well as… drum roll.. the new and (somewhat) improved den/home theater/library/man cave. Hope everyone is doing well. Stay tuned! As always… I’m on Twitter/Facebook/LinkedIn and in person in St. Joe, MI.

More things to smile about.

December 10th, 2008

For starters this: http://www.wordle.net  Have to see it to get it. Very cool. Including picture so you can see how cool. Also, People Magazine will go out of business once more people figure out Twitter. Just following @wiliw @breagrant @feliciaday and @greggrunberg has me firmly believing in the end of tabloids, or so I hope.  Also, iTunes has Batman: Black and White for next to nothing. It’s motion comic similar to their Watchman series. Very cool Sort of like a video storyboard/animantis for a movie.. good voice acting/music/effects. Cool.

I feel miserable but these things and that my son made honor roll, thinks I’m cool for playing Halo with him and playing Lego all make me smile. And folks, sometimes that’s enough.

My First Book is now available online!

December 5th, 2008

Ok.. I self published a book of photographs for gifts for family and friends. So.. if you’re reading this before Christmas.. I guess you know what you probably are getting from me! It’s available at Blurb.com for purchase here: http://www.blurb.com/books/469412

Also, it’s a bit pricey (over 200 pages!) I’m working on a smaller version that will be cheaper… that is if you actually would like to buy a copy for some crazy reason.

Last warm day of the year…

November 13th, 2008

It’s in the 50’s in Southwest Michigan, making it “warm”. I have a feeling I won’t see these temperatures again for a few months. Good bye sun. Good bye warmth. See you next year…

Halloween Preview

October 29th, 2008

Thomas wanted to be an ODST (Orbital Deployed Shock Trooper) from HALO. As usual… we both procrastinated a bit the start date. Compounding this year’s schedule was the fact that St. Joe is Trick Or Treating on Thursday due to a football game on All Hallow’s Eve… As it turns out, we got the costume done in one day (woot!) and will have more time to enjoy the candy raiding the day before Thomas’ Halloween Party (aka HALO til DAWN Marathon).

Costume consists of:
1) Paintball vest from previous costume.
2) Various construction knee/elbow pads (use them in the shop when he’s not..)
3)Sweat pants and shirt.
4)Wall Bike hanger and paint tray and tubing.(armoured backpack/rebreather)
5) Black work gloves
6) Borrowed pair of Dad’s black socks…
7) Nerf Sniper Rifle with custom paint job.
8) Paint Ball Mask
9) Tango Down Sniper cap (Thanks Engle)
10) Working Night Vision Goggles (EyeClops) – available at Target. One of the best toys… ever.

All this added up… well, really the goggles were the most expensive item followed by one pair of my knee pads….
Seeing your kid dressed up like someone who could kick Master Chief’s butt? Priceless.

That time of year again…

October 26th, 2008

Here’s hoping you all have a pleasant Fall and Frightful Halloween.

From left to right: Ed, Thomas, and Bob. Thomas carved Ed, I carved Bob. Bob was supposed to be scary. I think he’s laughing at me. ;)
